A SEVEN year old girl in Es Pil Lari, Mallorca has been presented with a phone bill for almost €700 much to the shock of her mother. The first that her mum, Marina, knew of the debt was when she received a court summons for non payment of the bill.
The family negotiated a deal with Vodafone two years ago for a fixed and mobile line at their business, but then decided not to take up the offer and did not sign a contract with the company. In a strange twist Vodafone have issued the summons in the name of the seven year old daughter rather than the name of one of the adults in the family.
Now Marina must not only sort out the problem with the bill, but also clear her seven year old daughter’s name from the list of ‘bad debtors’.
‘It could be a big problem when she grows up,’ said her mother.
