Benidorm hotels to pilot reservations data sharing

COSTA BLANCA hotels will be able to compare reservation figures to enable to react to demand, according to Benidorm hotel association, Hosbec. In a bid to obtain fast and accurate information relating to tourism in the Costa Blanca a new software program has been created which will come into operation this year as a pilot scheme in Benidorm.

The program gathers data of future hotel reservations and is set to revolutionize the way the Valencian region’s hospitality and tourism sector gather and compare their statistical data.

Until now, all systems gathered tourist figures based on historical data.

This is the first ‘forward-thinking’ data collection software of its kind and was the brainchild of Hosbec.

Hosbec believes a better understanding of the tourism sector will better enable businesses to cater to their needs.

The objective of this program will be for businesses to be able to compare themselves with other similar establishments.

So, a four star hotel in the downtown area would be able to compare their figures with that of other four star hotels close to them or other areas of the city.

Competitor’s data would be strictly anonymous so that only the statistical data was compared and not individual hotels.

Hosbec presented to the regional government last week and it has now been included in the Valencia Region Tourism Plan for 2011.
