THE Mirador in Mojacar’s Plaza Nueva, declared unsafe in June last year, is still waiting for a decision over whether it will be restored or demolished. The mirador looks over the Valle de las Piramides, the Cabrera, Bedar and Almagrera mountains, and the sea. ICC Quality Control wrote a report in 2010 which showed that the building had cracks in the pillars, which could lead it to collapse, especially the area over Avenida de Paris.
The company recommended that urgent measures be taken, such as evacuating people from the first and second floors, and not allowing anyone to walk over the area until the structure had been properly braced.
Union Mojaquera complains that the mayor, Rosa Maria Cano, has still not taken a decision over what should be done.
Meanwhile, Mojacar Se Mueve thinks it would be more sensible to demolish the structure and build it again from scratch.
