THE number of families wanting to adopt children from abroad has fallen throughout Andalucia, according to the Council for Equality.
In 2010, there were 418 requests for international adoption, 19.5 per cent less than in 2009.
Last year, in Almeria, 39 requests for adoption were processed, one of the lowest figures throughout the region. Meanwhile, 28 adopted children arrived in the province from other countries.
Most of the adoptees in Andalucia are from Russia, Vietnam, Colombia, Ethiopia, the Ukraine, the Philippines and China.
