THE Valencian Regional Government’s Health Department has detected 12 cases of salmonella in children which may be related to the consumption of Blemil Plus I Forte infant milk. Last week the manufacturer – Laboratorio Ordesa – recalled one of their batches of formula last week from various pharmacies as a “preventative measure” due to the “high number of children suffering from gastroenteritis”.
Ten of the cases were in the Alicante Province and the other two in the Castellon Province.
The parents of a one-and-a-half month old baby filed a complaint against Laboratorio Ordesa on the basis that their formula – which is the only formula their infant has consumed since birth – gave him salmonella, for which he has been treated for five times in hospital.
