A TODDLER has died after being hit by the Castello-Valencia train between the tunnel exit of Cabanyal station and Fuente San Luis in Valencia. “He was an angel from heaven that God has taken to his kingdom,” said the relatives of the two-year-and-seven-month old Romanian boy, as they clung to faith as a means to understand the tragedy.
Little Fernando lived with his family in a Romanian settlement that is only separated from the railway tracks by a small clearing. It was here that the young boy was playing with his mother and his one-year old sister, when the girl’s clothes got wet.
The 22-year old mother went inside quickly to find dry clothes and change the baby, but upon returning could not find Fernando.
