THE church in Las Salinas (Cabo Gata), found covered in satanic images and phrases has been closed, and will take approximately eight months to restore. Miguel Romera, the Vicar for Works of Almeria Bishopric, visited the church, which will be emptied and closed for work to begin.
Local residents lament the fact that this act of vandalism had to occur before something was done to repair the church which ceased to be used some years ago and has been the constant victim of pillaging.
Almeria City Hall will provide €150,000 for the work, which is estimated at €400,000 and will also make the church a tourist attraction.
Within the Church, there are suspicions regarding who the authors of the satanic rite who filled the church with paintings and inscriptions may have been.
However, until the police have identified the suspects, it will not be known if the church’s suspicions are correct.
