POLICE raided Pub Jackson in Fuengirola this week after discovering an illegal horseracing betting operation was allegedly being ran from the premises. According to official reports, at the time of the raid there were 25 people sat at tables with tickets similar to horse racing betting slips.
Inside the pub were eight TV screens showing coverage of horse races and a computer link to transmit the bets.
A laptop computer, three books with annotations regarding gaming, four copies of newspapers with horse racing information, €1,388 in cash, about 1,500 carbonpaper betting slips – both new and used – and 39 biros were confiscated by the officers.
The customers and the pub’s owner could face charges for unlicensed gambling.
