WHILE the Tourism and Work Councillor, Joana Barcelo, described the report of the work done by Palma Town Hall over the past five years as “magnificent”, Popular Party Councillor Jose Maria Rodriques called it “a failure.” Rodriguez challenged the Government about its policy in relation to the reform, especially hotels in the area that “do not know what they have to do to convert their hotels.”
In the past two years “there has been no private investment in the reform, which is essential for the area to once again become a prime tourist destination.”
“There is €127 million currently being used, assured Barcelo, and that 97 of the 98 planned actions have been completed, with just the Comprehensive Restructuring Plan (PRI) stopped.
Barcelo considered the balance “good” because they have “implemented actions that in past legislatures had not been undertaken and obtained the €127 million investment from the central government.”
