A GUARDIA CIVIL officer in Rincon de la Victoria has been arrested for the second time in 18 months, charged with robbery. He is charged with stealing from an associate with whom he owned a riding school in Benagalbon. He allegedly took the man’s keys, opened his car, took out his wallet, stole €50 and then put the keys back.
He was seen by another man who immediately called the Guardia Civil, and he was arrested on the spot. He had been working in Rincon de la Victoria for three months.
The officer was arrested in 2009 accused of stealing from the lockers of several colleagues at his former destination, Almachar, and has a trial pending against him.
The victims reported €40, €100 and €200 stolen from their homes in just a few weeks. The burglaries occurred when the owners were away and the homes were entered using the front door key.
He was also charged with a robbery at the Torrox station when €55 which his colleagues had gathered to play on the football pools were stolen, coinciding with a period when he was sent to that station temporarily.
After his arrest, he was on leave for some time and claims he is a kleptomaniac.
