Torrox chief of police is charged with falsification

THE Chief of the Local Police in Torrox, Jose Roque Fernandez, has been charged, along with a female officer, of document falsification. Jose Roque has been called to testify in court, charged with allegedly issuing a title with the letterhead of the mayor at the time, Teodoro Ruiz, without authorization, in April 2008.

The contents of the document were also allegedly falsified, as it stated that officer Monica Martinez had taken part in a self-defence and gender violence course as a teacher during the 2006-2007 term.

The police officer has since been sent to another town in the province and the chief is currently on medical leave for a leg injury.

An investigation was launched and the case was taken to the local criminal court.

The chief of police claims he has had no official notification that he had been charged and said that his conscience is clear. He suggests that there is a conspiracy against him which is being carried out by officers under his command who wish to discredit him.
