Councillor arrested for ‘domestic abuse’

A POPULAR PARTY (PP) Councillor in Calvia, Jose Montes, was arrested last week for allegedly assaulting his wife. He is a Cuban physician and paediatrician who serve as the PAC of Santa Ponça. According to reports, the son of the victim from a previous relationship called local police informing them that his mother was being attached in her home.

A few minutes later several officers pitched up and arrested Montes. After testifying before the coroner he was released on bail and charged with the crime of alleged abuse.

Following the news, Calvia Mayor Carlos Delgado asked Montes to submit his resignation and a request has been sent to the Regional Board to suspend his membership to the PP.
