EL ALTET airport in Alicante was the fifth in Spain for the number of passengers using low cost airlines in the first three months of 2011 with a total of 554,146 passengers, according to data released by the Institute of Tourism Studies (IET) through the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade.
Barcelona’s El Prat airport had the most, with 996,184 passengers using low cost airlines, representing an increase of 39.7 per cent.
