Woman to head home after release from Senegal jail

THE 27-year-old woman who was jailed in Senegal for 22 months is set to return home to Palma de Mallorca next Thursday (May 5). She had been traveling back from Brazil with her boyfriend of several months, who had asked that they stop-over in Dakar as he ‘could not handle long haul flights’.

However, they were arrested at the airport after 3.5kg of cocaine was found hidden in the false bottom of one of her bags.

She has now been cleared of all charges, but her boyfriend has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for drug trafficking after confessing he put the drugs in his girlfriend’s bag.
