Running bull injures four in Marina Alta

A MAN and three women were slightly injured after fleeing from a bull during the ‘Bous al Carrer’ (bulls in the street) fiestas in Senija (Marina Alta). The creature had jumped over a fence and into the crowd of spectators. The four were injured when they bolted to evade the advancing bull, which to their great surprise, managed to successfully vault a safety barrier to join them, Guardia Civil said.

The injured were three women aged 83, 67 and 60 and a man of 20. They were only slightly hurt and none of them had to be hospitalised. Things could have been worse had they not managed to leap and stumble their way out of the path of the errant bull.

The speed of their reactions demonstrates the amazing effect of adrenalin in humans, regardless of age, when faced with the prospect of imminent death in the face of an angry bull.

Guardia Civil later recaptured the bull on a nearby hill.
