A KILO of heroin was discovered by National Police in Alicante following a raid on a property in the town. A man and a woman, aged 59 and 61 were arrested at the premises, for suspected drugs trafficking.
The raid was carried out under the auspices of a search warrant following four months of investigations. Police had noticed an increase in drug activity and, naming the operation ‘Bayo’, had set about tracking the source of the heroin. Following surveillance of known drug users and criminals they eventually honed in on the property in question.
The two arrested occupants were already known to the police for their previous police records.
As well as seizing heroin, police also confiscated two pistols during the search.
The drugs haul was the largest made in Alicante for two years and police have not ruled out the possibility of further arrests.
