15,000 Eastern Europeans expected in Roquetas

FROM now until October, some 15,000 tourists from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Iceland are expected to visit Roquetas de Mar. This is thanks to an agreement reached at the Berlin Tourism Fair between Roquetas de Mar town hall and the Serhs Tourism Group.

Before the tourists arrived, the interim mayor, Gabriel Amat, and the Tourism Councillor, Angel Mollinedo, received 26 agents for the tour operator who visited local hotels, beaches and places of interest, as well as studying the facilities the town has to offer.

The spokesman for the Polish tourists said he was pleasantly surprised to discover what was available in Roquetas de Mar, especially the food and climate, as well as the short distance for other places of interest such as Granada.

Gabriel Amat said that the local tourist offices would collaborate to make sure the tourists were made to feel welcome, in hopes that this would encourage others to visit.
