FRANCISCO GONGORA, of the Partido Popular, is now officially the mayor of El Ejido. Gongora has created several areas within the council. The mayor claims there is “a lot to be done and there will be no days off”.
Gongora, who met with his team for the first time this week, has maintained his promise of reducing the number of departments, and leaves elect councillors Delia Mira, Juan Fernandez, Juan Canton and Almudena Valentin without departments of their own, but he says they will have their place within the local government.
On his first day as mayor, Gongora also met the civil servants who work at the town hall and carried out other tasks, as well as meeting with local residents who questioned him over problems they had.
He has said that the first areas he will be working on are municipal services, and the Balsa del Sapo flooding. He will hold meetings regarding the ongoing Elsur problem.
The company has initiated voluntary bankruptcy proceedings and requested the termination of its contract with El Ejido Town Hall for failure to pay.
