BENIDORM’S allotments are in the process of being awarded to those who applied. The successful applicants will be able to grow vegetables, flowers and herbs for personal use and must attend a three day training course on organic farming methods. Since retirees have more time to devote to the plots, 45 of the 51 plots will go to this group while the remaining six selected randomly by a lottery.
More than 100 people applied. The total area of these 51 allotments is 10,000 square meters and the cost of this initiative is approximately €37,000.
