Maid arrested again for stealing from employer in Velez-Malaga

POLICE in Velez-Malaga arrested a 29-year-old woman charged with stealing from the house where she was employed as maid. The investigation began after a local woman reported that jewellery and €5,600 had been stolen from a safe in her home.

Evidence led officers to a Bolivian woman who had been working in the house for just a few days, but who had already figured out where her employer’s valuables were kept and waited until nightfall when the owner was sleeping to take items.

When questioned, the detainee, who had got the job thanks to a third party who had given a good reference of her to her new employer, admitted to having taken the goods and sold some of them at pawn shops, others were found in the room she was renting in Malaga. Part of the money was paid into a bank account of a person living in Madrid, and the rest was sent to her country of origin.

She had already been arrested on June 2 for stealing €3,000 from another household where she had been working for three days.
