GUARDIA CIVIL in Huelva arrested two people who allegedly attacked a local businessman with a baseball bat, leaving him in a pool of blood, in March this year. The two detainees, aged 33 and 37, have ties to extreme left-wing groups, and the bat they used read ‘Nazi-killer’.
The attack, during which they also allegedly kicked the bar-owner in the head, has caused serious brain damage, which required that he be admitted to the ER of the Juan Ramon Jimenez Hospital. They also attacked another person who attempted to defend the victim at the ‘1900’ bar in the city centre which is known as a “quiet” place which organizes literary talks and poetry recitals.
Initially, the Guardia Civil were unable to gather much information from the victims and witnesses as the attack occurred so fast. It has taken them some time to discover that the attack took place for ideological reasons.
