Mijas teen charged for chocolate error

A 14-YEAR-OLD girl has been charged with misappropriation for eating chocolate which was meant for someone else. The chocolate had been sent by a woman to her husband by courier service for his birthday in April, a Spanish daily reported. A courier took the parcel to an address in Mijas where the 14-year-old girl signed for it.

She then opened the package and found several pieces of chocolate with the words ‘Happy Birthday’. She claims to have picked up one and eaten half of it.

The man who should have received the parcel contacted the courier service to tell them he was awaiting a delivery at the security company where he works in Fuengirola. It was then that the couriers realized the mistake and went back to the girl’s home to recover the parcel. However, she told them she had opened it and eaten part of the chocolate. The courier told her to give it back and took it to the man it was destined for.

When he realized it had been tampered with, he made a complaint a Fuengirola National Police station and the girl was called to give a statement. She claimed she had thought the gift was for her mother whose birthday was within a few days.
