Success but not quite the jackpot

WITH one eye firmly fixed on the updates and results from Las Vegas, eagerly looking for friend’s names so that I can report some big wins for our boys, I can report that we have had some success but not quite hit the jackpot. Our very own Marbella Mob’s Gary Collins has just returned and I will try and publish his blog next week.

There were in fact 10 players from the Marbella Casino who travelled to the bright lights city, all looking for the end of the rainbow and the pot of gold that awaits, along with other friends and winner of last year’s Marbella Mob Open, Carsten Joh, who has cashed in 32nd place in event number 31, the Pot Limit Omaha 2,500$ buy-in.

I know Gary took a terrible beating in the PLO event 22, when in the last level of the night he managed to get all the money in with a full house of Kings over Eights. His opponent held an eight in his hand and was heard to say to the rest of the table as he was almost drawing dead, “I guess I need an eight then”

With a blow to the head like being hit with a haymaker from Mike Tyson, BANG, comes the eight to give the only card in the deck to save him. Gary felt like being sick and this was on the cusp of being in the money, so even more painful than you can imagine.

Almost as painful was the loss suffered by ex Liverpool and Notts Forest football legend Larry Lloyd in a local game last week. After being miles ahead with a huge chipstack, the gorgeous Donna beat the big man into submission with her cheeky smile and just a little tad of luck.
