ONE hundred and fifty campers were evacuated after a forest fire broke in La Doctora, San Roque.
The residents who were staying at ‘La Casita’ campsite located at kilometre 125 of the N-340 were alarmed after the smoke from the fire was blown by a western wind. Emergency services were alerted to the fire shortly after 3pm on Sunday and it took four hours for it to be brought under control.
Five helicopters, two amphibious aircraft, 39 fire specialists, and two fire engines participated in the effort.
