Locals sleepless due to Almoradi ‘animal farm’

RESIDENTS of a block of apartments in Calle Menendez Pidal in Almoradi have denounced a neighbour who is filling his yard up with ‘animals as if it were a farm’, despite a town hall order to remove them. This has forced many residents to put their properties.

“There are chickens and the cockerel’s crow at 4am so I cannot get a decent night sleep,” resident Jaime Martinez told La Verdad newspaper. “I do not understand why there has not been an official health inspection of the animals being kept there because there are plenty of mosquitoes and rats,” he added.

Previous town hall secretary Antonio Cano signed an order to evict the animals with a corresponding €300 fine for the owner. “Guardia Civil’s Seprona said it was a matter for the town hall, the town planning department said it was a matter for the courts,” said Martinez.

“We think there is something fishy going on because this man is being allowed to get away with so much.” “It has been two years since this problem began and nothing has been done to fix it despite repeated complaints.”
