British Vice Consul, Lloyd Milen visits Javea

BRITISH Vice Consul, Lloyd Milen, visited Javea to hold an Open Day for British Residents there, along with a representative from the Pension, Benefit and Healthcare team in Alicante, Laura Leeman.

Lloyd Milen gave a presentation on the work the Consulate does and also encouraged all Brits going on holiday this summer to take out travel insurance. He also asked people receiving guests during the summer months to ensure those coming had appropriate travel insurance.

The Vice Consul said, “Wherever you are going on holiday, be it to visit friends and family, going to a familiar destination, or going somewhere further away, we strongly advise everyone to take out travel insurance and check the policy details. That way, if something does go wrong, you should be covered.”

Laura Leeman from the Pension, Benefit and Healthcare Team also explained people’s basic rights and entitlements in these areas, and encouraged everyone to read through the information on ukinspain.fco.gov.uk if they have any queries in this area. The open day was fully booked and also attended by the Mayor of Javea, José Chulvi, who opened the event by giving his commitment to working with the British Community in Javea.

The Consulate in Alicante will be holding more outreach events after the summer. To keep up to speed with what’s going on, visit ukinspain.fco.gov.uk or sign up to the British Embassy Facebook page on www.facebook.com/Britishembassymadrid .
