THE Terra Natura Park in Benidorm welcomed the birth of a capuchin monkey. After a 160 day gestation period, the baby monkey was born weighing 200 grams and is the 10th monkey to be born at the park.
The infant clings at all times to its mother who will feed her infant breast milk before slowly incorporating fruits, vegetables, eggs and some meat into the youngster’s diet.
Capuchin monkeys are considered one of the most intelligent primates in Central America. They are very sociable and are on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species.
