Carmen Pascual’s expensive video

A  ULEILA DEL CAMPO woman was fined €80 for uploading a videoed council meeting on the internet. Carmen Pascual, a PP candidate in last May’s elections, made the recording earlier this year.

Uleila del Campo’s acting mayor Angel Hernandez “expressly” asked her to stop, Almeria’s Number Two court heard, but Pascual continued. She believed the debate on a much-needed water treatment plant was particularly interesting, her lawyer explained, and was unaware she had been told to stop.

He also argued that council session videos were never vetoed in the past but when Pascual later put the recording on the internet, the council lodged a formal complaint. The video was accompanied by cartoons and mocking comments ridiculing the acting mayor and his second-in-command, claimed the town hall.

Found guilty of mild disobedience under Article 634 of the Penal Code, Carmen Pascual was fined €80 instead of the €120 demanded by the town hall.
