End of ‘monopoly’ for councillor’s wife’s pharmacy

EL EJIDO Social Services have explained that they will now be making sure that medicine prescribed at the Municipal Care Home will be distributed at all pharmacies.

The Councillor, Julia Ibañez, explained that medicine and other health care equipment for the Ciudad de El Ejido home will be distributed on a rotating basis by all pharmacists in the town and not just from one which happened to belong to the wife of the former Tax Councillor, Jose Añez.

This pharmacy has apparently had the monopoly on providing the home since 2002. The council intends to look into how much money this would have brought to the pharmacy.

Ibañez said that this “irregularity” was just one of the many which has been found, and that measures will be taken against this injustice which has been done to other local chemists.
