Man confesses to beating girlfriend to death

AN 18-YEAR-OLD girl died in the Granada town of Otura on Tuesday, allegedly beaten to death by her boyfriend.

The young man took her to the San Cecilio Hospital in Granada city at around 10.30pm although she was dead on arrival and was covered in contusions. He initially said that she had been set upon and robbed near her home, but shortly afterwards he is said to have confessed to have caused the wounds himself.

If it is confirmed that he killed the young woman, she would become the 34th woman to die at the hands of her partner in Spain so far this year. Otura Town Hall plans to declare several days of mourning in the town, where the victim’s parents ran a bar and were well known.
