HUNDREDS of swimmers participated in 16 different age groups ranging from aged six to 70 or more in the seventh race ‘Crossing of the Port of Torre del la Horadada.
Mother and daughter Vicki and Zoe Connolly took part in the event for the first time. Zoe, from the Torrevieja Swimming Club, competed in the 500m race in the nine to 10 years female Benjamin category.
Zoe had never competed in an open sea race before and excelled in winning third place and trophy with an impressive time of nine minutes 36 seconds.
Next in the adults race mum, Vicki Connolly, competed in the 1500m race.
Once again hundreds of swimmers entered the race and Vicki, swimming for her first time, won third place and a trophy in the female Masters one category with a time of 22 minutes 26 seconds. “We were pleased to be able to compete together in the same event and both pick up trophy positions and next year I hope my younger daughter Amy will be joining us,” said Vicki.
