More than 1,000 lawsuits against Estepona Town Hall

ESTEPONA Town Hall has complained that its legal advisers are overwhelmed with the more than 1,000 cases which involve the town hall.

The local Presidency councillor, Ana Velasco, said that the number of problems caused by the town hall since 2008 was “regrettable”.

She explained that around half of the lawsuits have been launched by town hall and municipal company staff, and said that the new governing team was willing to reach agreements with the municipal employees to put an end to cases involving them, and said that this is one of the priorities which the council will deal with.

On the other hand, Estepona Town Hall is accused of owing more than €5m. Velasco pointed out that these legal claims are causing problems in social and business circles in the town, as they are mainly from companies whose bills have not been paid.

The town reported recently that the public debt is more than €300m.
