Man ‘confesses’ to Polop double murder

A man is in custody in connection with the murder of a Romanian woman and her eight year old son, whose bodies were found on July 22 in a house in Polop.

This was revealed via a Twitter announcement by the Tribunal Superior de Justicia de la Comunitat Valenciana (Regional Supreme Court).

Officials refused to provide any information about the identity of the suspect and the circumstances of his arrest, citing that the matter is subject to court imposed reporting restrictions. It is known, however, that the suspect is of Moroccan nationality, aged 20, who is an employee of the woman’s landlord, who also owns a car repair garage. 

It is though the man confessed to the crime, sources close to the investigation told Spanish daily El Mundo

It is also thought the suspect was the person who told the landlord and garage owner to report them missing to the police, according to levante-emv.com The bodies were discovered in a house in the town, in which the woman, 26, lived with her 8 –year-old son. Both Romanians, they had only lived in Polop for the last two months.

According to reports, the woman and child were living with two Romanian men, in a rental housing located above a garage in the CV-70 between Polop and Callosa d’En Sarrià, Guardia Civil are apparently studying CCTV camera footing from the garage which also covered in front of the building, to check the identities of visitors on the day of the murders.

The deceased woman worked as a waitress in a bar located near the local police in the nearby town of La Nucia.
