Parents ‘forced’ girls to have sex for food in Gijon

A COUPLE was arrested in Gijon – in northern Spain – accused of prostituting their underage daughters in exchange for money or food.

Four other people have been arrested who were allegedly clients who engaged the services of the girls knowing that they were minors, aged 14 and 15.

The investigation began in May when a school alerted of their suspicions that a young Romanian girl may have been working as a prostitute.

They reported seeing her frequently in a café with a man more than double her age, as well as missing class frequently and dressing in a way which was inappropriate for her age. She had died hair, painted her nails and wore provocative clothing as well as being seen in the street at night and during school hours.

Surveillance revealed that two girls from the same family one of them with a slight mental disability, met with men over the age of 60 to perform sexual acts in exchange for small amounts of money (less than €30), gifts and food.

The mother of one of the girls provided potential clients with a telephone number and arranged the meetings in park or secluded areas where they would take the girls in their vehicles.

The father of one of the minors, who was also the other girl’s brother, had been arrested previously after another Romanian girl reported him for intimidating her and forcing her into prostitution.
