IN a surprise move, Torremolinos mayor, Pedro Fernandez Montes has banned a music festival at the Aqualand water park.
The event scheduled to take place on September 11 from 10am until 9pm has been cancelled on security grounds after receiving information from the National and Local Police, the mayor said.
A similar festival held there last May prompted numerous complaints from nearby residents objecting to the loud music as well as the “macrobotellon” – a young people’s open-air drinking session – that followed on from the festival.
Police had to be called in repeatedly after rubbish bins and other municipal property were trashed and drug-taking detected, Fernandez Montes explained earlier this week.
