A BRITISH ex-pat in his forties was arrested in Mijas for allegedly attacking his wife in the street.
The attack took place at the bus stop in Mijas Pueblo opposite the town hall. Two witnesses who were waiting for the bus called the Local Police to report that a man was hitting and pushing his partner.
When the officers arrived and attempted to prevent the attack, the man turned on them, injuring both, and then caused serious damage to the patrol car, including breaking one of the windows, denting doors and damaging seats.
The Guardia Civil were called in to assist the police and took the detainee into custody.
According to the Equality Council at Mijas Town Hall, there is no record of prior violent attacks in the family.
