AN EARTHQUAKE measuring 2.7 degrees on the Richter Scale was registered southeast of Pulpi at 8.48am on Monday.
It was felt most in San Juan de los Terreros, but the emergency services report only a few calls from people alerting them of the tremor in Pulpi and Cuevas del Almanzora, but there were no reports of damage.
However, at 1.15pm on the same day, there was a landslide on the A-1025 road between Pulpi and San Juan de los Terreros which is believed to have been related.
At the time of the landslide there was a lorry on the road which was damaged when several rocks fell on it. Fortunately, the driver was not injured and the damage did not prevent the vehicle from going on its way.
The local councillor for Works and Services, Pedro Jesus Martinez, visited the area. The road was closed to traffic and diverted via the Carretera de Los Lobos. The Junta de Andalucia will have to carry out repairs and will decide when the road will open once again.
