THE popular elephant Petita, who lives in Terra Natura Benidorm celebrated her 39th birthday in style by devouring 70 kilos of frozen fruit. Petita is an Indian elephant initially rejected by her herd because of her low weight.

Making a special effort to mark the occasion, her keepers prepared a huge fruit ice, divided in two parts so that it was easier to eat. Another female elephant, Kai bland, who is the Petita’s best friend, shared the treat. Lucky elephants in this heat!
