A TEENAGE boy was seriously injured after falling down some cliffs in a restricted area of Aguamarga beach in Nijar.
He and two other friends, both of them minors, were playing on the cliffs and planned to jump into the sea in an area where swimming is banned.
The boy fell and hit his head, sustaining severe brain trauma, and was taken to Torrecardenas Hospital Complex in Almeria. At the time of going to press he remained in the Intensive Care Unit.
Paramedics, Guardia Civil, Local Police and Civil Protection took part in the rescue which had to be carried out by boat. They found the boy unconscious, although they were able to resuscitate him with CPR.
A similar accident occurred in late July when a 17-year-old hit his head on the rocks in El Puntal area of Pulpi. He had jumped into the water and hit his head on a rock. He was airlifted to hospital and claimed he couldn’t feel his arms or legs.
