A RESIDENTS’ association in Vera has launched a manifesto which aims to stop the deterioration of the local beaches.
The ‘Veraplayazul’ association, which includes 15 communities and urbanizations in the area, has signed the ‘Save El Playazo’ manifesto, which also aims to boost economic and social development in the area as well as preserve the natural environment.
They wish to prevent the quality of the beaches between Pueblo Laguna and the naturist area from deteriorating, and wants to get hotels, businesses and local residents on board to help develop the area, improve the quality of the sand and water, prevent dumping and promote the construction of a breakwater in Garrucha to prevent the beaches from losing sand.
They also want increased surveillance in the area for beachgoers, a proper seafront promenade, a bike lane, and areas for sports and culture, as well as improving cleaning services.
