IBI discount for early payments in Javea

A SERIES of measures has been implemented in the Javea’s Finance Department in a bid to relieve financial burdens. This includes a discount on property tax for early payment, updating of the Land Registry, and the modernisation of the Local Treasury’s entire tax payment system.

The voluntary payment of property taxes IBI in Javea will continue until Wednesday December 7. It is also possible to make these payments in instalments during this period by prior arrangements with ones bank.

Those making their payment around mid-September will benefit from a 2.5 discount as a reward for early payment. Banks will automatically apply this discount to the sum due.

A company has been employed to update the Land Registry entries of those properties where undeclared extensions, additions or alterations have been made.

Under the new stricter law, the actual size and type of property being sold must comply with what is registered.

A possible sum of €1.8million could be due to the Town Hall from this measure, Finance Councillor Oscar Anton estimated, as they will be able to claim bills for this year and the four previous years, as allowed by law.

The Local Treasury’s entire tax payment system is set to be modernised. A feature of the new system would be the ability to make customised payments of all municipal taxes. Property, waste and vehicle charges could be lumped into one sum, allowing the taxpayer to decide how much and when they want to pay.

Those opting to pay in total at the beginning of the year would be eligible for a savings depending on the interest rates at banks in January. A saving will also be due to those paying any amounts in advance.
