THE father of a boy who fell from a balcony in Alicante after being left alone has been released with charges to await trial. The child is still at Alicante General Hospital.
He said he had only left his two children, aged 11 and eight, alone because he had to go to work.
He claimed that they boys were of an age where they could manage alone and that he often left them alone while he was working as his wife had not returned from spending Ramadan with family.
The eight-year-old fell from their second floor home in the Virgen del Carmen district. He has been charged with abandoning a minor and social services is investigating the conditions in which the two children are living.
