Twitter refuses Spanish Ministry of Health request

SOCIAL network Twitter has refused to remove profiles and messages which could promote anorexia and bulimia after a request from the Spanish Ministry of Health.

The site responded it “firmly believes in the importance of freedom of speech and works to preserve it”.

Health Minister Leire Pajin has said she intends to take the matter up at a meeting of EU health representatives next month. Pajin said “it will carry a lot more weight than if Spain does it alone. The problem is not just ours but is widespread across social networks”
