Almeria City hotel prices fall

THE price for a night in a hotel in Almeria city has dropped up to 27 per cent in first six months of this year.

According to recent data from the Hotel Price Index carried out by www.hoteles.com, one of Spain’s main hotel booking website, Almeria city is now the cheapest destination in Spain, and one of the cities in the world where prices have fallen most.

Despite problems registered in countries such as Egypt this year, which had led hoteliers in Almeria and other parts of Spain to predict an influx of tourists, it is still cheaper to stay in a hotel in Almeria (€53 on average) than it is in Cairo (€73 on average).

Meanwhile, Spanish locations such as Marbella and Estepona are charging double the average in Almeria, even though Estepona has also seen a 24 per cent fall in its average prices.

The average prices for the whole of Spain have fallen by two per cent from last year, although in some destinations such as Logroño, Santiago de Compostela, Salamanca and Elche, they have fallen between 15 and 11 per cent.
