MALAGA’S second prison, in Archidona, will have 1,000 cells which are larger than normal, at 13m2.
The prison, which will cost a total of €117m, will cover 350,000m2, with 1,008 residential cells, and energy efficient lighting.
The Government Sub-Delegate in Malaga, Hilario Lopez Luna, said it will have 17 small buildings and residential areas. Plus, the spaces between buildings will be covered, to allow safe passage in bad weather.
The prison, on the road to Villanueva del Trabuco, should be completed by 2012 and open in 2013, as they are already at around 50 per cent of the project.
