Man set fire to own home, twice in Cadiz

A MAN, 58, was arrested in Cadiz for setting fire to his own home twice.

The first fire was at the beginning of August and police had to evacuate the four-floor building, although the rapid intervention of the firemen meant it was quickly brought under control.

They found it had been started deliberately on the sofa of a ground floor apartment inhabited by the detainee, who had problems with drugs and alcohol and has now been remanded to prison and had been arrested on 12 prior occasions.

The second was in September, when neighbours alerted the police after smelling smoke in the house, where they said there was a “total lack of hygiene”.

Through the window, the police could see the detainee lying on the bed, and the small fire which he had started beside him.
