C.D. Montesinos cruise past league leaders, Benejuzar

CD MONTESINOS are starting to find both their feet and form as evidenced on Sunday when they easily defeated league leaders Benejuzar.

Having not played anywhere near their potential over that last few weeks, a few harsh words from Manager Juanpe seemed the spur the team on with the players turning in a magnificent performance to gain a comfortable 2-0 away victory which could easily have been five.

With Juanpe serving a one match touchline ban, the starting line up went with three at the back, attacking wing backs in Dimitry and Ma as well as the favoured Macan and Vasquinho up front.

It was Vasquinho who had the first real chance when he rounded the keeper early in the game, but with the gaol at his mercy; shot wide. More missed chances were to follow and credit where credit is due as theopposing keeper made three excellent saves from Macan who should, one again, really have done better and scored

Finally, following some great work by Macan, set up a cross to Vasquinho, who made no mistake firing low into the bottom right corner on the stroke of half time, to give CDM a fully deserved lead.

The second half saw no change in the pattern of play although again early missed chances were plentiful from CDM. Macan ran clean through and slipped, just as he was about to pull the trigger and then Vasquinho rounded the keeper and shot wide.

Only one nil up but at least four good chances had gone a begging!

Time and time again the Benejuzar defenders could not keep up with the blistering pace of the Brazilian, and twice hauled him down when he was clean through, with the referee only giving yellow cards when a straight Red was the correct call.

Finally, though the result was beyond doubt when Vasquinho ran through and scored his and CDM’s 2nd goal with a wonderful
chip over the on-rushing goalkeeper.

It’s typical for at least double figuges to be awared, when it comes to yellow and red at this level in  Spain and the referee did not disappoint as he still found time to issue more yellow and one red card to each side to leave the game with 10 cards per side!

CD Montesinos have been evjoying bigger home crowds each and every week and hope to see a few new faces on Sunday October 9, for their home game against Sporting Orihuela; kick off at 17:00:hrs.
