Rio Nacimiento region requests fire station

THE Rio Nacimiento area has requested that Almeria Provincial Government build a firefighting department in Fiñana.

The area, which includes Fiñana, Abrucena, Abla, Las Tres Villas, Nacimiento and Gergal, currently depends on the fire departments in El Ejido and Albox, but having their own would protect the area by allowing fires to be controlled more quickly.

All the towns have less than 20,000 inhabitants and have requested a study on how to build the facilities and how it could be financed.

The mayor of Fiñana, Alfredo Valdivia, presented the request in the name of all the mayors concerned to the Presient of the Provincial Government, Gabriel Amat. The land which would be needed to build the fire station would be provided by Fiñana Town Hall and is located 150 metres from the A-92 motorway.

The proposal had already been made to the former President, Juan Carlos Usero, but Valdivia has said that he hopes this time they will soon receive a response.
