Spain's Queen Sofia in Alicante

SPAIN’S Queen Sofia will visit Alicante’s Archeological Museum (MARQ) today (Thursday).
This comes two days after the opening of the exhibition of the 300 pieces from the St Petersburg Hermitage in Russia.
Some of these items have never been seen outside of Russia and includes the figure of the deer Pazryk and comb Solokha which is made of gold and is more than 2,500-years-old.
This will be the third time the queen has visited MARQ; the first was its opening in 2002 and the second seven years later at the opening of the international exhibition ‘The Beauty of the Body; Art and Thought in Ancient Greece’. She will also attend a concert by the Valencian Orchestra under the direction of Zubin Mehta at the new ADDA auditorium.
Alicante’s Provincial Department has confirmed her attendance at both events.
