EIGHTY secondary pupils demonstrated outside Torrevieja town hall, protesting about the elimination of free school transport.
Chanting slogans and challenging mayor Eduardo Dolon to put in an appearance, pupils from the Libertas school remained for two hours but dispersed when no-one responded to their demands.
They were not insisting on entirely free transport, but neither did they want to pay the €35 euros a month that was being discussed, explained Eneko Delgado.
The students also wanted to know what the final cost would be, who was going to contract the bus service and how it was to be paid. It was also essential to find out who would be eligible for subsidies, Eneko said.
